We're happy to announce the new addition to the family. Her name is Ella Kathryn Kollman, born August 30th. Needless to say, I've been wearing many hats as of late. Holy Mr. Mom. My guitar chops are 2nd to my burping chops. We've added a few new photos to the site of the little rocker girl.

The Crumb Bros cd "The State Of Your Mind" is now available for purchase on the Marmaduke store. Give the gift of music this Christmas. The disc has Shane Gaalaas on drums, J.K. on guitars and dark, and disturbed Mark Renk on Vocals.

On the gig front, Cosmosquad will be at the Baked Potato Dec 14th. We've got Kevin Chown on bass in place of the ever-elusive Barry Sparks.

Jeff is currently busy in the studio producing/ playing on the "Tizer" record through December. The record will be available in early ‘06. You can go to laotizer.com for more info.

Jeff has been busy writing for film and T.V. Most recent credits include Fantastic 4, Masters Of Horror and a new release "Slither" on Universal.

A new Kollman instrumental record will be due out in April. It's been a long time coming since Jeff's last solo release "Shedding Skin".

JKB is currently writing a follow-up to the debut release "Bleeding The Soul". We shot a video for "By Myself" in the spring of ‘05. We'll get some samples up soon of that. We are revamping the old site, so sit tight.

November 2003

There's quite a bit goin' on in my world lately. Bought a New house, and a new pug named lola Fontaine, a tour of Europe comin in November with Charlie Waymire and bassist Paul Shannon (whom I've been dying to jam with since we met 2 years ago and played a little jam at the Namm show. We'll be playing many csquad songs that are featured on the Live At The Baked Potato disc as well as a few $ign of 4 tunes and whatever else we can fake our way through.
I've been busy finishing up the Crumb Bros. record with with Mark Renk and Shane Gaalaas. It's a new group of mine with the same moniker as the name of our production company (the crumb bros.). The record is a bit on the artsy, folky, meets the dark, and melancholy. It sounds a bit along the lines of Pink Floyd and Radio Head. Great songs!! We'll be mixing in December. More news to follow.

As far as the production thing goes, mark and I recently finished the HTP 2 (Glenn Hughes and Jo Lynn Turner) record which is now available worldwide. Also available is the Glenn Hughes (Songs In The Key Of Rock) which I produced and played a bit of guitar on. Other production projects include the bands Stepa, Barefoot Bride and Bad Judgement. Look out for the solo release from our Cosmosquad drummer Shane Gaalaas. The record is called Primer featuring Shane doing playing it all and singing. Great job S.G.!!! Shane , Barry , and I will reconvine after the b'z tour in January to do another Cosmosquad record. Thanks for the support.

That's all for now. Cheers, Jeff

April 2003

Jeff  has recently completed the production of the new Glenn Hughes release "Songs In The Key Of Rock". Jeff co-wrote and shared the guitar duties along with guitarist J.J. Marsh. The record will be released in May off 03 .

"Glenn is a scary talent. The Voice of Rock reached yet a higher plateau with this record. We started concieving song ideas in November and just finished the mixes in the first week of February here at Crumb Studios". J.K.

Go to glennhughes.com for more info.

"Thanks to Lou Carrier and the Hard Rock hotel Orlando for inviting us to rock the hotel and giving us the star treatment!!. I played with Glenn Hughes and the boys on the 27th of March. What a great time. I love those vintage Deep Purple jams!! " J.K. Photos to come.

Jeff is currently busy with writing and producing with his Crumb brother partner Mark Renk. This new production team (Crumb Bros.) will be producing the upcoming HTP record in april featuring vocalists Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow) and Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple).

"With a vocal combo like these two monsters, our jobs as producers will be more like getting coffee and doughnuts. Ha!! We are currently in pre production weeding through and developing song ideas. The record will be in the can by June first." J.K.

Songwriters, Send your demos..........
PO Box 33992 Granada Hills Cal. 91394

Crunb Bros. goal as a production team is to find upcoming signed and unsigned talent and to help not only produce their songs, but help the artsit find and hone in on their strength as songwriters.

"We are a one stop shop. Co writing, producing and recording in our L.A. based Crumb studios. My partner Mark has a unique gift to mold raw vocal talent , which has quickly caused a buzz around the L.A. studio industry. Our first undertaking as a Crumb bros. is a young Emo rock band from Ventura called Bad Judgement. The band will be out on the road supporting their debut record this summer." J.K.

Jeff also has a new band "Transfer The Addiction" with vocalist Mark Renk and drummer Shane Gaalaas. "We've been writing and recording songs for the debut record." J.K.

Jeff's group "$ign Of 4" has released "Dancin' with St.Peter" in the UK in October followed by a tour in Nov. of 02. The record which is available on Track records will also be released elsewhere this spring. Go to Track Records.tv for more info.

Jeff has started the writing process for a new solo instrumental release for the guitar fanatics out there. The new record will be a followup to his '99 release "Shedding Skin". "It seems like a good time to focus on a solo instrumental record considering that my Csquad boys Shane and Barry will be busy with other touring commitments this summer." J.K.
Cosmosquad will reconvine in the fall to write a followup to "Squadrophenia".

"Thanks to the Cosmsquad fans and reviewers for the great response on our recent Cosmosquad "Live At The Baked Potato" record featuring 14 live cuts from C' squad and my solo instrumental material." C'ya .. Jeff

January 2003

3 Days of Jeffology! As previously mentioned, Cosmosquad will be co-headlining '21st Century Schizoid Night! - A Celebration of Guitar, Bass & Drums' at Club Sixteen-Fifteen www.sixteen-fifty.com in Hollywood CA on January 16 alongside McGill Manring Stevens, featuring Grammy nominated bassist Michael Manring (Michael Hedges, Attention Deficit). Unfortunately, Chris Poland's band, Ohm:, have had to bow out due to unforeseen circumstances and Buttermilk, with Kofi 'son of Ginger' Baker (Shawn Lane, Jonas Hellborg, Mojo) and bassist Rob Pagliari (Ohm:, Frank Gambale), will be taking over the opening slot. Look for Chris Poland to sit in with Buttermilk. Check out the LA Weekly online edition (January 9 - 16) for a cool 'Scoring the Clubs' write-up on the show. Thanks to Greg Burk for the plug! P.S.: And yes, we will have copies of the new 'Live at the Baked Potato' CD!

On January 17, Jeff will also be gigging with Shape 68, featuring the mighty Glenn Hughes and Robin DiMaggio, at the NAMM Sabian Nighttime Party; Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Billy Duffy (The Cult) are scheduled to make guest appearances. Shape 68 will be sharing the bill with the legendary Tower Of Power and Earth, Wind & Fire. Can you say, "shake yer booty"?!

Finally, Jeff is hitting the Key Club on Saturday, January 18 with the Lao Tizer Band. C'mon down and chill out to some great instrumental music!

December 2002

The $ign Of 4 shows in Europe were a great memory for me. The band really felt tight, and I feel there's a real chemistry that came together with this lineup. Phil Mogg's vocals were superb night after night. It's great to see people singing the new songs with us. A sincere thanks to the loyal legion of European fans, past and present!!! Also thanks to Candyheads (supporting act on $ign Of 4 tour) for their great music and the great hang!! Go to candyheads.co.uk for more info.

There are some photos posted on related web sites. Link to ufo.dave-wood.org then click on $ign Of 4. Also, check out the new $ign Of 4 fan website.

I'm really looking forward to paying some shows with $ign Of 4, hopefully a handful in the states early next year. We'll keep ya posted.

I'll be busy recording and producing the next Glenn Hughes record starting December 15th here at Crumb Studios. We'll work through Christmas, and should have it completed by February 1st.

On a sad note,Cosmosquad bassist Barry Sparks had to leave the legends of rock tour in Europe due to death of his father in early November. Our hearts go out to Sparks and Logan families. Please email your condolences to Barry.

Phil Mogg interview for BBC Radio 6 Music (with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson interviewing) will run between 9pm and midnight UK time on Sunday December 8th. You'll be able to hear it online at www.bbc.co.uk/6music. Once you go there you'll see the 'listen live' icon, click on that and, bingo, you're tuned in.

November 2002

November 14, 2002 - Thanks to everyone that came out to the Baked Potato last week - the show was a blast! Oh yeah, if you got yourself a copy of the new 'Live at the Baked Potato' CD at the show - hang on to it! Due to our manufacturer screwing up the artwork you are now the proud owner of a true collector's item, limited to 100 copies only!

Check out '10 Questions with Jeff Kollman' with Jason Ritchie of Classic Rock Newswire that's posted on the 'Strangers In The Night' UFO fansite.

Also, on the Glenn Hughes front - Glenn's cancelled 'Rockline' (www.rocklineradio.com) appearance has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 4th. Tune in between 9:15pm and 10:00pm to hear 'The Voice Of Rock' accompanied by Jeff Kollman on guitar. Glenn's next solo album is set to get under way in mid-December with Jeff producing and playing some guitar as well as co-writing part of the material.

October 2002

$ign Of 4's 'Dancing With St. Peter' is out now in the UK via Track Records and should see a release in the rest of the world sometime in early 2003. Dates for Europe are still being worked on but things are tentatively set to kick off around mid-November. Phil, Jeff, Shane and Chris (Maloney) will invade the Marquee in London on November 19. The rest of the itinerary will be announced shortly!

The world premiere of Shape 68, featuring Jeff, Glenn Hughes, and Robin DiMaggio, is definitely on for October 16 at Platinum Live in Studio City, CA. Doors open at 7pm, cover is $10.00. For more info visit www.platinumliveusa.com . On a related note, Glenns October 23 'Rockline' appearance with Jeff has been postponed and will be re-scheduled for December. Stay tuned for details!

Jeff just mastered the Cosmosquad - 'Live at the Baked Potato' CD at DNA in Studio City the other day and it should be available by October 21. This is one seriously smoking disc so make sure to check it out! Look for Jeff, Barry and Shane to celebrate the release with a righteous bash at the Spud in the coming weeks. A couple of Hollywood shows are also on the horizon and a new studio record may get under way before the end of the year, everyone's schedule permitting. The European C'squad dates with Jeff, Charlie Waymire and Chris Maloney, who were set to fill in for Shane and Barry, are not happening and will hopefully go down sometime early next year.

Also, Jeff recently tracked a couple of leads for 'Edge Of The World', the forthcoming solo album by vocalist Mark Boals, best known for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen. Jeff can be heard on 'Trouble In Paradise' and 'Hold On (To Your Love)'; the album is due out October 23 on Pony Canyon in Japan and November 11 via Frontiers Records in Europe, respectively. Also featured are guitarists Tony MacAlpine, Chris Brooks, and Neil Citron, keyboardist Erik Norlander, and drummers Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath) and Virgil Donati (Ring Of Fire, Planet X).

And last but not least - check out Jedd Beaudoin's in-depth interview with Jeff on Ytsejam.com, a great website decided to progressive rock and metal.

November 2001

Since my father was such a part of my life and my music, and so many friends and fans of Edwin Dare were close to him, I feel that it's my obligation to share some of the recent events and the feelings I have.

My Father Tom (The Scene) Kollman died in his Florida home on October 20th at the age of 58. He had been battling lung cancer since he had been diagnosed in the spring of this year. His whole family including his mother Helen and the rest of us were all there with him in his time of dying.

His funeral service was held at the north point of Ft. Myers beach. Many of us shared stories about him and his great life. After the ceremony some 20 or so of the immediate family and closest friends went out to sea at sunset. We tied the three boats together. And with a very moving toast by his mother Helen, we then spread his ashes into the ocean along with some beautiful red roses.

Last year Dad met and fell in love with a lady named Kathy .They were like 15 year old kids who were experiencing love for the first time. She was there by his side through the whole thing. Picking up his spirits... Helping him rise to the challenges that lie ahead. I think in spite of being diagnosed with cancer, the strength of their love outshined all of the hardships. I would say it was the best year of his life.

My close friends will remember a man that was like a father to them. Someone they liked to hang out with. One of the guys... Many of which tell me, that they felt more corfortable being around than with their own parents.

Many Edwin Dare fans will remember that Kenny Rogers looking guy behind the merchandise table concerts selling the cd's and giving proud support to his kids in the band.

I will remember a man that was truly a great father who supported his children's dreams 100%. A man who always had a positive outlook. Someone who always gave to those around him. A man who was not only my father, but my best friend.

When my mother died January of 2000, I wrote a ballad for her called "In Loving Memory." I've written two songs for my father long before his passing. Songs with the blues attached to them. Songs with groove, energy and a celebration of life. I'm sure there will be a few more to come dedicated to Tom "The Scene" Kollman.

We'll miss you!!!!

July 2001

My band Cosmosquad will be participating in the Tribute to Jason Becker CD that is coming out on Jason's birthday July 22nd. We wrote a tune called JAM FOR JASON, featuring Chris Poland (Megadeth, Ohm,) Steve Morse (the Dregs), Jeff Watson (Night Ranger) and Vinnie Moore on our track. The list of guitarists participating is a mile long. Go to lionmusic.com/jasonbecker for more info. Jason is a fabulous guitarist stricken with A.L.S. ( Lou Gehrigs disease) while recording for singer David Lee Roth. Jason's most noted work is his own release "Perpetual Burn," and also with Cacophany on Shrapnel records. All proceeds go to Jason and his family.

The 2nd Cosmosquad release has been in the can for a few months now. We haven't released it yet due to some pending negotiations… It will be released in September I presume...

We've just mixed and edited the Cosmosquad "Live At The Baked Potato," recorded February 28th. It's a mixture of new songs, old songs, and songs from my last solo release "Shedding Skin." Due out this fall.

There's a lot of emails and interest in the Phil Mogg (of UFO) record that we've been chopping away at. We'll be mixing it in August. There are a lot of UFO fans and web people who have reached out to help us. I apologize to anyone whom I haven't kept in touch with. There's been some serious family stuff going on in my life right now. I've had to put all the recording projects on hold this spring and only now I'm finishing them up.

I took off to Florida for the month of May to be with my father who is fighting cancer. Anyone who knows me knows my father. They know what a great person that he is. He's everything a son could ask for. He has been behind me and my music from beginning. Selling merchandise, going on tours with the band...100% supportive. His spirit and fighting attitude couldn't be better… Please send your prayers!!!

As some of you know, I lost my mother Carol to cancer last year. I wrote "In Loving Memory" as a tribute to her.

All the best,
Jeff Kollman
