CHAD SMITH'S BOMBASTIC MEATBATS COME OUT TO PLAY!
CHAD SMITH'S BOMBASTIC MEATBATS will be performing at The Baked Potato, December 20th in North Hollywood, CA. 2 shows... 9:30 & 11:30. Yes with Chad!!
THE BOMBASTIC MEATBATS will feature famed drummer Kenny Aronoff on December 13th also at The baked Potato.
Chad, Kenny and the bats will fly on over to The Drum Channel for a rare on camera performance on December 19th. Kollman states "It's a rare thing that this band has developed. Chad has had commitments over the summer with Chickenfoot and now with The Red Hot Chili Peppers who are writing daily for a 2010 release. Therefore, we called on heavyweight drummers Kenny Aronoff and Matt Sorum for recent tours to fill Chad's shoes".
Kollman continues, "Both drummers killed it and at the same time made it their own. The Meatbats live set list of original tunes provides this musically diverse palette for drummers to venture off and express a side of of drumming that is sometimes stifled by famed producers in a cooperate rock environment".
Aronoff states, "Playing with the Bombastic Meatbats is amazing on many many levels... I love the Meatbats music because it touches on many styles of music like, Rock, R+B, Country, Texas swing, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Second Line, Funk and Fusion and more. You have to not only know the songs and your parts, but you need to be able to groove, play in time and most importantly, be able to listen to everyone else so you can improvise and react to everyone else at a split second. For me it's not just about drumming, it's about MUSIC at the highest level... communication both as a listener and speaker through the vehicle of music".

APRIL 2009 NEWS UPDATE!
JEFF and the BOMBASTIC MEATBEATS have just recorded their 2nd studio release with Producer/Engineer great Ryan Hewitt in Venice Ca. "We played the songs a bit live before going into the studio", states Kollman. "We cut all 12 tracks live in the studio over a 3 day period in March and with out a click track. Old school. Just how the bats like it." "It's interesting with this band. We have now two studio records and a double live recording with 14 tracks in the can and we just put a deal together to release the first album 'Meet The Meatbats'."
The album will come out this Summer in the U.S. and Canada on Warrior Records/Universal. It will also be released in Japan this August.
The BOMBASTIC MEATBEATS will play a west coast show at the Baked Potato Tuesday April 28th. "We're wanting to get one last show in before drummer Chad Smith goes out with Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and bassist Michael Anthony) for their summer tour".
JEFF has reunited with (The Voice of Rock) GLENN HUGHES, to do some touring in '09. "We just did a successful U.S. run and now are heading overseas".
The band will perform the entire Deep Purple 'Burn' album in Bulgaria and Serbia. The guys will head to the U.K. in June to play a set of Trapeze music (Glenn's group prior to Deep Purple). Go to GlennHughes.com for more info.
In other news, COSMOSQUAD bassist, Christopher Maloney, will be relocating to Florida in June. He will be closer to his daughter and opening a music school called Absolute Music Studios in Jupiter (just North of West Palm Beach). More details will be available on Christopher's website soon. Jeff states, "I'm very excited for him, but it will be very sad to see him go. COSMOSQUAD will be playing a farewell gig for Christopher on Friday, May 29th at the Baked Potato in Studio City, CA. Our musical ventures together will continue in some form. Away but not forgotten as they say."

January 14, 2008 - Acclaimed guitarist/producer Jeff Kollman (GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY) has lined up a number of performances at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. Kollman is teaming up with bassist Christopher Maloney and drummer Glen Sobel (in place of Shane Gaalaas) to play a set of COSMOSQUAD tunes at the Fender Frontline stage on Thursday, January 17th (2:00 p.m.) and Friday, January 18th (5:00 p.m.), respectively.
In addition, Jeff will unveil his as-of-yet unnamed new band with the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith (dr), Kevin Chown (bs), and Ed Roth (keys); showtime will be 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 18th immediately following COSMOSQUAD at Fender. Later that night, Kollman and Smith will be funking it up with the one and only Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE,TRAPEZE) at the annual Sabian party at the Sheraton Hotel.
In related news, Kollman is finishing up work on the first ever COSMOSQUAD live DVD, filmed at the band's recent Musician's Institute gig in Hollywood, CA. The group will also be heading off to Japan for a series of shows in mid-March before drummer Shane Gaalaas continues his road stint with Japanese superstars B'z who are celebrating their 20-year band anniversary with an extended tour.

Los Angeles, CA-based metallic fusioneers COSMOSQUAD have finished recording and mixing their latest album, titled ACID TEST. Co-produced by drummer Shane Gaalaas (B'Z, DIESEL MACHINE, GLENN HUGHES) and guitarist Jeff Kollman (GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY, $IGN OF 4) at Crumb West Studios in Simi Valley, CA between February and April, ACID TESTmarks the group's first studio effort since 2001's highly acclaimedSquadrophenia, released on Marmaduke in North America and Mascot and Zain/Big M.F. in Europe and Japan, respectively.
"I'm really stoked to have this new record coming out — it's been way too long!" enthuses Gaalaas. "It seems that everything came together very naturally and it was a lot of fun to collaborate with Jeff again. I think we take the listener on quite the journey throughout ACID TEST. Epic songs with lots of movement, heaviness, some greasiness, and an amazing ballad from Kollman that really sets him apart from other guitar players. The playing is certainly elevated a notch but we still retain the classic 'SQUAD vibe — the stuff that made us famous, ha ha!"
Missing from the latest COSMOSQUAD endeavor is longtime bassist Barry Sparks (TED NUGENT, MSG, ULI ROTH) who played on the band's first three records. "We tried our best to get Barry to put down some tracks for ACID TEST but with him living out of town and being the road warrior that he is we just couldn't line it up scheduling-wise this time," explains Gaalaas. "But, we'd been doing live gigs with a revolving cast of bass players anyway so once we started recording we spread the tunes around and everybody came through with some great playing. So it all worked out well in the end."
Sharing bass duties on ACID TEST are Jeff Kollman's old EDWIN DARE bandmate Kevin Chown(ARTENSION, TONY MACALPINE, UNCLE CRACKER),Christopher Maloney (Z, $IGN OF 4, HARDLINE), andPaul Shinadeh (SCOTT HENDERSON, SCOTT KINSEY); keyboards are supplied by Ed Roth (IMPELLITTERI, GLENN HUGHES, FATES WARNING) who plays on five cuts, and noted composer Jono Brown, co-author with Kollman on the recent Garmin GSP Superbowl commercial that featured U.K. vocalist Steve Grimmett (ex-GRIM REAPER).

Guitar screams Live is now available
at the Marmaduke record store. This is a collcction of songs from Jeff's groups Mogg/Way, Sign Of 4, Cosmoquad, solo material, and JKB. Special guests include Paul Shihadeh, Shane Gaalaas, Kevin Chown, Christopher Maloney, Lao Tizer, and Ed Roth.
By the way, all of these and more Marmaduke releases all also available at itunes for downloads. This includes Jeff' 90's metal band Edwin Dare. For you Edwin Dare fanatics... "The Unthinkable Deed" which was their first record, (currently out of print) is now available for downloads at Itunes.com.
In other news, Jeff just finished up the "06 Music For The Divine" tour with "The Voice Of Rock", Mr. Glenn Hughes, formerly of Deep Purple. "We will reconvene
on Feb 20th, '07 starting in Russia for pt 2 of the 'Music For The Divine Tour.' The tour will then continue throughout parts of Europe in April. Complete tour schedule..
Jeff has jumped on board with Fender Guitars and amps.
Fender was introducing the VG Stratocaster guitar at the winter NAMM show January 07. They've integrated Roland technology along with a tranditional Strat to give you multiple tunings on the fly as well as modeling different pickup and tone configurations.

Jeff has been working with Pianist Lao Tizer over the past few years, including the new release Diversify, which was produced by Kollman. The lead off single "Uptown" is starting to hit the smooth jazz stations across the country and spreading like a virus! More info at www.Laotizer.com.
Last but not least, Jeff and Shane Gaalaas are well under way recording the 4th Cosmosquad record. Bassist Barry Sparks is not available to join in on this recording due to his hectic tour schedule and solo musical ventures. "Barry, we'll miss your presence and

SUMMER 2006
Jeff has teamed up with Jono Brown Co writing and producing
tracks for singer Nina Maria from the band Shock Nina.
Jeff is also writing with Glenn Hughes for the new Jimmy Barnes
record.
On the live front, Jeff will be touring throughout Europe
starting in Late October. "We get the dates posted up on the site
soon. Check back in the beginning of October".
"The movie soundtrack thing seems to be going well. We're getting a lot of
placements. Recent music credits include Poseidon, Beerfest, Failure
To Launch, Clerks 2, Garfield
2, and The Marine".
Jeff has begun the writing/recording process for the 2nd JKB record
with band mates Kevin Chown and Charlie Waymire. The record will
be produced by Jono Brown. "We're doing it a bit different than the
usual demo first, record after process. It's basically a song a day.
We'll go in, look for an inspirational idea and get it on tape. The
lyrics then follow. Some tunes will take 2 or 3 days depending. We'll
stay on one till it's done."

Cosmosquad will continue the writing process for their followup to Squadrophenia in
August. Drummer Shane Gaalaas is currently out on tour with the
B'z in Asia.

Los Angeles, CA - Guitarist JEFF KOLLMAN (Glenn Hughes, Mogg/Way,
UFO) and his band COSMOSQUAD will be appearing at the Baked
Potato, 3878 Cahuenga Blvd. W. in Universal City, CA this Saturday,
April 1 for a double header. The first set kicks off at 9.30pm.
States Kollman: "We'll be recording for a solo live album, with
our good friend Bob Bradshaw coming down to engineer. We are
doing songs from both COSMOSQUAD records, my last solo disc,
Shedding Skin, including some songs we
haven't done live yet, and we
might pull out a couple of tunes off the MOGG/WAY and $IGN OF 4
records I did with Phil Mogg. It's gonna be a well rounded,
eclectic set and extra special because Ed Roth (Glenn Hughes,
Impellitteri) is joining us on keyboards for the occasion, a first
for us in a live setting.
"Speaking of COSMOSQUAD, Shane (Gaalaas) and I have written a
lot of material for a new studio album and we'll probably start tracking
sometime in April. The biggest challenge will be trying to
corner the perpetually busy Mr. Barry Sparks for a couple of days
between his solo gigs, doing Blackmore's Night, and Uncle Ted so
we can knock out all the bass tracks. I've also accumulated a bunch
of stuff for another solo album but we'll knock out the new COSMOSQUAD
first.
"Also, I'll be joining the great ULI JON ROTH & Friends when
he heads into town for a series of concerts that will be taking
place May 24, 26 and 27 at the Freud Theater on the campus of UCLA. I
first met Uli back in '98 on the European G3 Tour when I played bass
for MSG and it's an extreme honor to share the stage with him again. He's
got a lot of cool special guests lined up for this, including
Warren DeMartini, Tony Franklin, Jeff Scott Soto, Eric Singer,
Chris Poland, and Roy Z, so it should be a great event. Check www.sky-academy.com for

In other Jeff Kollman news, the guitarist has been collaborating
with Jono Brown and placed music in major motion pictures such
as 'Slither', '8 Below', and 'Fantastic Four', as well as Showtime's
'Masters of Horrors' series. Another track, 'Captivity', from
the forthcoming Roland Joffe-directed movie of the same name, is
currently getting airplay on Scott Mason's show on KROQ radio
in Los Angeles. Kollman will also be making his acting debut,
playing the role of jazz great Barry Galbraith, alongside fellow
six-string masters Steve Vai and Tony MacAlpine in the upcoming bio
pic 'Crazy', based on the life of post-World War II era Nashville
guitar legend, Hank Garland.
JEFF will be embarking on a Fender Clinic tour around the USA this Spring, be sure and pay him a visit if he visits a city near you!
