CHAD SMITH'S BOMBASTIC MEATBATS COME OUT TO PLAY!
CHAD SMITH'S BOMBASTIC MEATBATS will be performing at The Baked Potato, December 20th in North Hollywood, CA. 2 shows... 9:30 & 11:30. Yes with Chad!!
THE BOMBASTIC MEATBATS will feature famed drummer Kenny Aronoff on December 13th also at The baked Potato.
Chad, Kenny and the bats will fly on over to The Drum Channel for a rare on camera performance on December 19th. Kollman states "It's a rare thing that this band has developed. Chad has had commitments over the summer with Chickenfoot and now with The Red Hot Chili Peppers who are writing daily for a 2010 release. Therefore, we called on heavyweight drummers Kenny Aronoff and Matt Sorum for recent tours to fill Chad's shoes".
Kollman continues, "Both drummers killed it and at the same time made it their own. The Meatbats live set list of original tunes provides this musically diverse palette for drummers to venture off and express a side of of drumming that is sometimes stifled by famed producers in a cooperate rock environment".
Aronoff states, "Playing with the Bombastic Meatbats is amazing on many many levels... I love the Meatbats music because it touches on many styles of music like, Rock, R+B, Country, Texas swing, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Second Line, Funk and Fusion and more. You have to not only know the songs and your parts, but you need to be able to groove, play in time and most importantly, be able to listen to everyone else so you can improvise and react to everyone else at a split second. For me it's not just about drumming, it's about MUSIC at the highest level... communication both as a listener and speaker through the vehicle of music".

APRIL 2009 NEWS UPDATE!
JEFF and the BOMBASTIC MEATBEATS have just recorded their 2nd studio release with Producer/Engineer great Ryan Hewitt in Venice Ca. "We played the songs a bit live before going into the studio", states Kollman. "We cut all 12 tracks live in the studio over a 3 day period in March and with out a click track. Old school. Just how the bats like it." "It's interesting with this band. We have now two studio records and a double live recording with 14 tracks in the can and we just put a deal together to release the first album 'Meet The Meatbats'."
The album will come out this Summer in the U.S. and Canada on Warrior Records/Universal. It will also be released in Japan this August.
The BOMBASTIC MEATBEATS will play a west coast show at the Baked Potato Tuesday April 28th. "We're wanting to get one last show in before drummer Chad Smith goes out with Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and bassist Michael Anthony) for their summer tour".
JEFF has reunited with (The Voice of Rock) GLENN HUGHES, to do some touring in '09. "We just did a successful U.S. run and now are heading overseas".
The band will perform the entire Deep Purple 'Burn' album in Bulgaria and Serbia. The guys will head to the U.K. in June to play a set of Trapeze music (Glenn's group prior to Deep Purple). Go to GlennHughes.com for more info.
In other news, COSMOSQUAD bassist, Christopher Maloney, will be relocating to Florida in June. He will be closer to his daughter and opening a music school called Absolute Music Studios in Jupiter (just North of West Palm Beach). More details will be available on Christopher's website soon. Jeff states, "I'm very excited for him, but it will be very sad to see him go. COSMOSQUAD will be playing a farewell gig for Christopher on Friday, May 29th at the Baked Potato in Studio City, CA. Our musical ventures together will continue in some form. Away but not forgotten as they say."

The band will be playing a pair of double headers (showtime: 7pm and 9pm) in Osaka and Tokyo and also appear at the Musician's Institute in Tokyo (open to students only!). A Los Angeles area show has been booked for April 4 at the Baked Potato in North Hollywood.

January 14, 2008 - Acclaimed guitarist/producer Jeff Kollman (GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY) has lined up a number of performances at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. Kollman is teaming up with bassist Christopher Maloney and drummer Glen Sobel (in place of Shane Gaalaas) to play a set of COSMOSQUAD tunes at the Fender Frontline stage on Thursday, January 17th (2:00 p.m.) and Friday, January 18th (5:00 p.m.), respectively.
In addition, Jeff will unveil his as-of-yet unnamed new band with the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith (dr), Kevin Chown (bs), and Ed Roth (keys); showtime will be 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 18th immediately following COSMOSQUAD at Fender. Later that night, Kollman and Smith will be funking it up with the one and only Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE,TRAPEZE) at the annual Sabian party at the Sheraton Hotel.
In related news, Kollman is finishing up work on the first ever COSMOSQUAD live DVD, filmed at the band's recent Musician's Institute gig in Hollywood, CA. The group will also be heading off to Japan for a series of shows in mid-March before drummer Shane Gaalaas continues his road stint with Japanese superstars B'z who are celebrating their 20-year band anniversary with an extended tour.
